JAM is a lot of fun for juniors and seniors, but not many people see behind the scenes and all the hard work volunteers put into the decorations, making sure the students have an amazing night.

Way back on September 8th is when the JAM volunteers had their first meeting of the year; it’s also when volunteers start to sign up. People sign up when they are ready to commit and put their email and name in and what room they want to work in so they continue to get information and get to know their group members.
Over 400 volunteers help to make JAM the most memorable night.
At the first meeting, new members get the rundown and overview of what JAM is and the commitment it takes. Different jobs are shared at that time and what jobs need to be filled and taken over.

A parent volunteer, Jacy Bruno, said, “I did the orchestra room last year, and we had 14 volunteers in that room.” They themed their room after the movie Elf to tie it in with the New York theme of prom.
This year, her third year volunteering for JAM, she will be decorating the orchestra room again.
The JAM shed is where all the work gets done and where all the supplies are kept. Meetings are once a month and are usually held on the first Monday of the month.

Small projects start in October, and each room has a leader with a group of people who help. Each group will sign up for one week and work on their projects so that there aren’t multiple groups working at the same time making it crowded.
According to bhsjam.com, “J.A.M. was created by BHS parents over 35 years ago to have a safe, alcohol & drug-free environment where the kids could celebrate their Prom night. It’s a FREE After Prom Party for ALL BHS Juniors and Seniors and their dates, midnight-4am. Every Junior and Senior can attend whether they attend Prom or not.”
