You may wonder what the fast food company that supplies you with your weekly dose of fried chicken and mac and cheese has to do with TV, but if all goes smoothly, by the end of this year it will be the start of a new norm. Chick-fil-A is going “into the entertainment space with plans to launch a slate of originals for its own streaming platform,” as well as including a mixture of reality TV and game shows (according to Deadline).
The platform will also be fully family-appropriate (shockingly), but they are not the first platform to implement this after Disney Plus was released in 2019.
While this is news to us, it is not the first time that the well-known chicken company has dabbled in animation and originals.
In 2021, Chick-fil-A released a series of short animated films, called The Stories of Evergreen Hills, which promote good behavior and are directed toward children, and its message that small acts of kindness bring people together is an honorable one (You can watch it here).
While these shorts are far from a streaming platform, they are a step in the right direction in creating their own films. Chick-fil-A is rumored to be releasing their platform “later this year,” according to Deadline, meaning we can expect to be able to watch by late 2024.
Maybe.
If all goes well, this could make an already multi-million dollar company a “one-stop shop” for dinner, says Today.com.
Who knows, maybe soon Netflix will start slinging burgers if Chick-fil-A’s dinner and a show takes off.
