    Broomfield Boys Basketball ended their regular season on February 15th with a win against Fairview 78-63, closing their league record as 11-4.

    Shyya Marteniz made history at Broomfield after this game, now holding the all-time assists in a season with 153 assists.

    Broomfield ended their season on February 24th after a tough loss against Fruita Monument (1).

    Broomfield’s (17) first round opponent was Overland High School (16). The game was a rematch as Overland was the Eagle’s first opponent of the season, a game in which Broomfield won 77-71 on November 30th.

    As in their first meeting, the Eagles did not disappoint, upsetting Overland in the first round of playoffs 75-70, sending the Eagles to the Sweet 16.

    In the second round, the Eagles came in eager to win facing number 1 Fruita Monument; however, the game didn’t go as planned with the Eagles losing 44-61 in the sweet 16.

    Broomfield’s season came to an end with an overall record of 18-7. Congratulations to the team on a good season and solid playoff run.

    Kaia Weingardt is a senior at Broomfield High School and a first year member of the Eagle Way News. Kaia plans to continue her academics at ASU or U of A in the fall, majoring in Sports Journalism and Business. She has enjoyed playing club softball since a young age and has continued playing in high school. Outside of school, Kaia skis in the winter time and loves to hang out with friends.     Hayden Foster is currently a Sophomore and is a broadcast journalist for Eagle Way. His hobbies include track, photography and hunting. After high school he plans on going to college for Videography and hopes to pursue a career in sports videography. This year he’s excited to learn how to do photography and video pieces for Eagle Way.
