What’s your workout routine? Do you even have one? For many Eagles, a workout routine entails walking from the couch to the fridge, then back to the couch to work on some remote control curls.

That’s not the case for junior Nadia Rebholtz-Herrera.

Rebholtz-Herrera starts her weekly workout plan on Sunday’s. Sunday she works on back, biceps, and shoulders. Monday, she works on chest, triceps, and other upper body muscles she did on Sunday. Tuesday, Nadia works her legs. Wednesday, she rests. Thursday she starts her whole routine over again.

Eagle Way: Do you enjoy lifting by yourself or would you prefer to have someone work out with you?

R-H: “I would rather have someone work out with me because that means they’re counting the reps and sets with me, which pressures me to try and do better compared to if I workout by myself.”

EW: On days you had practice, would you still go lifting?

R-H: “Depends on school. If I’m caught up with everything, then yes, but if I was behind or knew that something was due that night or the next morning, why risk anything?”

Judo and Wrestling play a big part in Nadia’s life. When winter comes around, her schedule gets even more hectic.

EW: Did Judo ever interfere with wrestling or visa versa? If so, what practice did you choose to go to?

R-H: “Wrestling definitely interfered with Judo. I chose to go to wrestling because I thought if I was actually competing in wrestling then it was worth my main focus.”

EW: Was the transition from Judo to wrestling hard?

R-H: “Yes because you’re in a different setting and the movements are completely different. Like, in Judo, you don’t shoot for the other person’s legs and in wrestling you do. In Judo you are also allowed on your back and in wrestling you aren’t because you get pinned that way. I remember when I first started wrestling live in matches, I would keep getting pinned because I would keep going to my back.”

EW: Out of all these activities that you participate in, which one would you say brings you the most joy?

R-H: “I think I like being in the gym the most because I can go at my own pace and control what I do. Being able to have the opportunity to do so makes me enjoy lifting.”
