Insta-Famous to Insta-Annoying

Broomfield, CO – Halfway through Advanced Chemistry, Sarah was bored and pulled out her phone to check on some social media. After the school’s sluggish wifi finally decided to work, her Instagram feed loaded and Sarah immediately saw a picture of her best friend making out with her disgusting boyfriend.
“OMG!” Sarah mumbled under her breath while having to adjust in her seat as shivers ran down her spine. In an attempt to flush the image from her mind, she scrolled to the next post only to find Jessica, her older sister, posting her third selfie this morning. “What the heck is wrong with people?” Sarah thought. She made a mental note to have a little chat with her sister and tell her to chill with the selfies.
Already regretting her decision to IG, Sarah hesitantly continued scrolling and saw a picture her chem lab partner just posted, along with seventeen hashtags in the caption. Poor Jake was obviously desperate for attention and wanted the likes. She glanced over at him, slowly shaking her head in pity for the poor kid.
At that point, Sarah had had enough and set her phone down on the desk. She sat there for a few moments, desperately trying to comprehend the narcissism of the human race. She made a vow to never become one of those people, posted her daily selfie captioned #selfie #cute #girl #l4l and returned to balancing chemical equations.
