ESports is coming to Broomfield, and it’s coming fast!

Bailey Dubs, Staff Writer & Media Editor

Today during the last half hour of tutor time, there will be an informational meeting about Broomfield’s new ESports team in room #242.

ESports practices will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00-5:30 in room #579 (Mr. Leonard’s room). They will start the first week of October (Tuesday, October 2st).

Even though ESports is a no-cut sport, the number of spots on the team is limited to the number of computers in Mr. Leonard’s room. Spots will be first-come, first-serve. (The online platform isn’t compatible with Chromebooks.) Mr. Shelton, the athletic director, said students can register and play online on a computer at home as well.

The only equipment that students will need is a headset (by the first match on October 21st), and the cost of registering is $65.

The sponsor teachers (coaches) will be Mrs. Harkness (math), Mr. Kelly (science), Mr. Oliver (social studies), and Mr. Alexander (IT), and they are all super excited for this new opportunity at Broomfield. According to Mr. Shelton,  they are prepared to conquer any “bumps in the road.”
