Bandanas are Back

Once one of the crucial dress code no-nos, now Eagles can wear bandanas without punishment.

Back to the old three “Bs.” Bandanas are now allowed to be worn, and not just for spirit week. Ms. Ramsey said that this rule was established in the first place because they seemed to be causing friction, and it was something that could simply be left at home. “I grew up in area where the bandanas meant gangs, and I’m not saying that it ever meant that here.” However, the use of them was rarely sighted, and it wasn’t something that people meant to harm anyone else with. Mr. Boccard said that when they were used, it was more to show “team bonding.” While certain messages can be implied with the color or way of wearing a bandana, he also said that, “It doesn’t seem like there’s an intent with it.” After consideration, the rule was discarded. “It wasn’t interfering with education,” said Ramsey, “I don’t see it as an act of defiance, I believe that that’s potentially for team unity.” Bandanas are officially permitted to be worn. At Broomfield, bandanas gained a new meaning; instead of signifying gangs, they have become a way to show spirit and alliance with one another.
