During the holidays, many American families face everyday struggles.
From producing food for the table to presents under the tree, families have the hardest time around the holidays with 37 million Americans living under the poverty line. This makes up over 11.6% of our population in America and 9.3% of Coloradans.
The article, “Holiday Hardships,” by Feed the Children, says, “The number of food insecure households continued to rise in 2023, up to 13.5%. This is an increase over the 12.8% in 2022, and 10.2% in 2021.”
Winter without a doubt is the costliest season with heating bills costing as much as $500 where as in the summer/spring they cost as low as $110. With this increase in heating, many families face unpaid bills and empty tables.
With all the pressure and stress, Broomfield has offered to open a Food Pantry. This pantry provides free food, school supplies, hygiene products, Eagle gear, and so much more.
“You can come to the Library anytime to access the Food Pantry,” Mrs. Courtney says. “We really want to make sure our Eagles feel like they can be taken care of and take care of others!”
Although Broomfield has provided this resource, the supplies aren’t endless. We ask that you as Broomfield community members donate any canned foods and supplies to our Front Office or Library for the pantry. We also provide a RevTrack link where you can directly donate!
