Studying can be so different for a lot of people. Some people take hours, and some people take minutes. It’s really all up to the person. Although sometimes, maybe as students get older, the tactics they used, aren’t as helpful as they used to be, or maybe knowing some tips on studying can really help.
It’s okay to switch things up a bit and try new tactics, or if you don’t study, to try these tips out! It can really make a difference on your test scores and worksheets.
Create a Study Schedule
Plan your studies in advance. It’s always better to start studying early and break down the work you need to study into smaller and more manageable tasks. This will help avoid any last-minute cramming and stay on track.
Find a Distraction free environment
Although this tip seems like it’s not a big deal, choosing a quiet, calming, and well-lit environment can really help focus without interruptions (although some nice calming, no lyric background music can help). Also, try to limit using your phone or other technology that is not related to your studying, and keep it away from you when you are working.
Make it fun
Instead of constantly reading heavy passages, engage in more open fun ways! Try making flashcards, maybe add color and designs to try to test yourself, get a study buddy to test each other, and try to memorize it in your own words.
Take Regular Breaks
Do not abuse this tip. Breaks are necessary, but taking a lot of time off can un-motivate you. During the breaks, rest your mind, hydrate/snack, take a quick walk, and meditate.
The Pomodoro technique, which is studying for 25 min and taking 5 min breaks, is highly suggested to help with studies.
Stay Organized
Keep your study materials and notes organized. It’s important to have notes to help you stay organized on what you are learning. This helps to know what you need to study and how to prevent unnecessary stress from happening in the future.
Review often
Don’t wait until the night before to finally take action and study! Regularly revisit your notes, practice your weakest spot where you bump into problems the most, and review your memory.
Hopefully you got some great tips that will help improve your study method, and hopefully you will see some changes in the future!
