Legally Beyond Expectations

On April 6, 7, and 8, Broomfield theater put on an amazing show. Legally Blonde was hilarious, exciting, and romantic. If you didn’t get the chance to see it, you really missed out. Rather than being a direct imitation of the Hollywood movie, BHS theater put their own spin on it and turned it into a musical. There were tons of fun dance numbers and catchy tunes. A show like this takes weeks and weeks of preparation to put together and you can tell the cast really gave it their all.

BHS theater is led by first-year language arts teacher Jenn Bryner. Some of you may recognize the stars of Legally Blonde as your fellow classmates. Emma Kegerreis, 10, did a lovely job as Elle Woods. Jared Goodwin, 12, played Elle’s love interest, Emmett Forrest. Kyle Ladtkow, 12, played Elle’s ex-boyfriend Warner Huntington III. The wonderful cast list, including two dogs, is too long to list, but everyone did an amazing job.

If you’ve never seen the movie, Legally Blonde is about Elle Woods, a college student whose boyfriend, Warner, breaks up with her because she’s not “serious” enough. To prove just how serious she can be, Elle applies to Harvard Law School, where her ex-boyfriend goes. Miraculously, she gets accepted but soon finds out that Warner is engaged. Elle decides to step up to the plate and show Warner what he’s missing. She graduates as valedictorian of her class and ends up getting engaged to a new love interest she meets at Harvard.

The show was exceptional and it’s hard to imagine theater being able to top this. If you haven’t been to a theater production yet, make sure you add it to your high school bucket list.
