A Day of Festivities, Food and Fun
September 21, 2016
My first ever memory of Broomfield Days was at the clown contest, which was held early in the morning as one of the first events of the day. It was early, I was cranky, and I looked like a clown. Literally. Little did I know, about an hour later after being put in front of several judges, I would be walking home with candy, toys, and a brand new red flame covered bicycle. I will never have an experience quite like the day I won that bike. Each year I experience something new and different. Since my first Broomfield days, I have walked away with fun memories, a full stomach, and a red sunburnt face.
Having lived in the city of Broomfield for over 18 years, my entire life, I have become quite familiar with one of its most well known events: Broomfield Days. Broomfield Days has loads of different things to do, from watching the local bands play to performing in the dance competitions. The massive Midway parade gives a chance for everyone to become a part of the city’s excitement and is also a great opportunity to catch up with neighbors and friends. It has stayed an interesting and fun-filled event as I have grown from a child to an adult
As I grew into my teenage years, my interest shifted from the bouncy castles and the candy throwing paraders, to the sleek and antique looking cars that are lined up for display. Even though my interests had changed completely, Broomfield Days is still able to bring me back again and again. A place to enjoy the beautiful outdoors of Broomfield, eat delicious funnel cakes and socialize, Broomfield Days was like a carnival that I could walk to from my house without the hassle of paying for a pass or parking.
Along with being like an amusement park, another big attraction of Broomfield Days is its massive amount of vendors set up in tents up and down the park. These tents, each of which having something different and unique, seize the attention of all types of citizens. From water bottles to frisbees, almost every tent has some sort of free item, leaving me with a bagful of local business-branded goodies every year.
Every year when Broomfield Days comes near, the vivid memories from the years past return to my mind, each one of them putting a smile on my face and filling me with excitement for the great memories I will make at the next Broomfield Days.
