Homecoming is one of the most exciting events of the school year, filled with dances, football games, spirit weeks, and time spent with friends.
While it’s a time to have fun and make lasting memories, it’s also important to keep safety in mind.
Plan by coordinating transportation, whether that means having a responsible driver, using a rideshare service, or carpooling with trusted friends.
Stay in groups, especially when going to or leaving events, and make sure your phone is charged in case you need to contact someone.
Most importantly, look out for your friends and make sure everyone gets home safely. A little planning and smart decision-making can help ensure your homecoming is not only fun but also safe for everyone involved.
Have a plan!
- Safe driving

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the likelihood of a teenager getting into a car accident between the ages 15 and 20 is 8.1%. This percentage increases dramatically on dates of important events such as homecoming, prom, and graduation.
- Wear a seatbelt.
- DO NOT be under any substance/alcohol while driving.
- Cell Phones should be put away while driving to prevent distraction.
