As one of our rivalry games lurks around the corner, our athletes are getting ready.
From practicing every night to working out outside the gym, this is arguably the most interesting match of the year. It’ll certainly be the most highly attended.
Not only do athletes prepare physically but mentally as well.
“I have to get in the right mind space,” Kendra Runyon (‘26) said. “If you don’t prepare, that big of a crowd can psych you out.”
As for how Runyon is feeling for the big game, “Excited, nervous, anxious, scared,” she said. “It’s hard to pinpoint a specific feeling when I feel about 10 [emotions].”
Starting in a match of this magnitude can lead to a mix of anxiety and exhilaration. “I know that I just need to focus on the game, tune out the crowd, and focus on volleyball. If I do all of that, I’ll be able to perform to the best of my abilities,” Runyon said.
Make sure you find yourself in the Legacy Gym Thursday, September 19 at 6:30. The theme is black-out attire…and be loud.
