Open Enrollment Tours: Admin Shows Visitors the Ropes
January 10, 2020
On December 6th, throughout the day around Broomfield High School, administrators led adults and students around the building, showing them common areas, classrooms, and hallways in hopes to persuade them to attend next fall.
Open enrollment at Broomfield High School accounts for about 40% of the students (37%, which is approximately 500 students). This is extremely important in order to keep more teachers.
The fewer students the school has, the fewer teachers the school needs.
Prior to doing group tours, BHS held shadow days in which a current student would get assigned a prospective student to bring around to classes for a full day.
Switching to the group tours gives parents and students the opportunity to ask questions and be shown around the entire school instead of only attending a particular student’s classes.
“It really gives us [the administration] the chance to advocate for Broomfield High School directly,” said Steve Shelton, the athletic director.
With the tours of people throughout the day comes the hopeful sustained population of the school and therefore its faculty and staff.
