The Eagles of Broomfield – Kelara Madani

“I started karate when I was 4, but I really started liking it when I was 12 because that’s when I tried out and made the national team. My first year at nationals, I had five fights, and I won all of them. That same year I got a Pan American medal, which is a pretty big international medal. I got that in Mexico, and it just went from there. When I was 14, I went to the Olympic Development Program, and that’s when I started travelling a lot internationally. Every couple of weeks, I would go out of the country. My favorites places so far have been Columbia, Dubai, Costa Rica, and Indonesia. I got on the national team when I was 12. I have international medals that I’m really proud of, but I think I just like karate because I love the feeling of winning. I don’t think anything compares to it.”
