On Thursday, April 13th, Broomfield High School’s Women’s Leadership Group put their plan to paint the 400 hallway girls bathroom into action. Right after school, Mrs. Binion and Samantha Cook began taping and painting the first base coat on the colorless walls. After nearly four hours in the small bathroom, the walls were finally prepared. A dry blank canvas would be waiting for them to return the next day. Since, there was no school on Friday, the group took full advantage of the empty school and began their soon to be long day at nine o’clock in the morning to finish the painting.

“We were there for six hours painting. It took a long time, but it was fun because Jenna turned on some 80’s music and we jammed,” says Ellie Keeler, “It was also fun because Mrs. Binion ordered pizza for us and we sat on the floor and she told us about all of the crazy things that she has seen at the high school over the years”.

Over the duration of the day, the girls hardly took any breaks and continuously worked to try to make the once dull walls come back to life. The students would come back on Monday to a wonderful surprise from the Women’s Leadership Group.

“Our goal was to promote positivity in the bathrooms because we know a lot of girls have insecurities. We wanted to give a friendly reminder that every girl is beautiful. In the future, we hope to give a makeover to other old bathrooms in the school. Everyone is beautiful and unique in their own way and every girl is capable of what they set their mind to,” said Megan Williams.
